NSCDC nabs woman for selling twins

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command says it has arrested a woman, Ms. Regina Udo, for selling her twins.
Udo, an indigene of Mkpok in Onna Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, was said to have sold the baby boys to one Favour Chukwu, who worked for Precious Survivor Maternity Home in Oboma, Oyingbo Local Government Area, Rivers State.
It was learnt that the driver of the clinic, Mr. Chikerom Ezelu and a lady who claimed to be a housemaid, Miss Queen Ubanu, and 13 others involved in child trafficking were also nabbed.
The state Commandant, Mr. Pedro Ideba, told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that intelligence officer of the NSCDC arrested Udo after she had sold the first boy for N480, 000.
He said Chukwu could not buy the second child because he had wanted to pay N400, 000.
He said, “We told Udo to agree for N400, 000 and when Favour Chukwu arrived to buy the second boy, we arrested her. She led our men to a clinic, Precious Survivor Maternity Home.
“We found out that the owner of the clinic also recruits young girls, whom they used as baby factory. People go there to buy children.
“So far, we have arrested 16 persons and have handed them over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other related matters for prosecution.
“All these arrests were made with the cooperation of other security agencies.”
