EXCLUSIVE: NEMANJA MATIC WILL COST CHELSEA £38M

ABOVE: Nemanja Matic could set Chelsea back £38m having left the club in part-exchange for David Luiz

BENFICA are demanding Chelsea pay a staggering £38m for Nemanja Matic – the man the Blues let them have as a makeweight two years ago.

Boss Jose Mourinho has convinced owner Roman Abramovich that the Serbian playmaker is key to his plans.
And, like Mourinho, Matic, 20, will be making a return to Stamford Bridge, having first signed for the club from Slovak side Kosice four years ago.
In January 2011, Matic was transferred to Benfica along with £21m so Chelsea could land Brazilian centre-back David Luiz. Matic starred for Benfica last season and now looks to be on his way back to London.
But Benfica, who lost 2-1 to Chelsea in the Europa League final last month, are digging their heels in and demanding a massive fee.
Luiz, currently in Brazil for the Confederations Cup, last night confessed that he is now interested in Paris St-Germain. The unsettled defender has been touted as a possible target for Barcelona.
The Brazil star will now meet Mourinho after the Confederations Cup to discuss his future.
But he has admitted that he is intrigued by the way Qatari-backed PSG are building a star-studded squad including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Lucas Moura.
Luiz has been speaking with Moura, along with other Paris-based Brazilians Thiago Motta and Thiago Silva, about the French club’s plans.
“I talk about PSG and their project with my Brazil team-mates,” said Luiz, 26.
“The club has done a good job in Ligue 1 and they have some very good players, such as Lucas Moura, Thiago Motta, Maxwell and Thiago Silva.
“And that is just the Brazilians. There are more besides.”
Luiz was one of the Chelsea’s best performers in the second half of last season, especially when employed in midfield.
But it remains to be seen what role, if any, Mourinho has in store for him next season.
